Not if your imagination is running off of 7N silver. Do you think this guy is experiencing any jitter. I. Think. Not.

re: reviews, at least here you'll get all sorts of opinions, many of them expressed cogently, with what seems to be a lot of experience to back them up (I'm lookin' at you, Stan! ;-)  If you take the time to read them and do other basic research, it's possible to make a good decision.  But yeah, demoing all the way, if possible.  If not, bite the bullet, and hope you can sell it on if it doesn't work out.

I thiink that everyone has motivations to color what they either hear or writeup.

A possible motivation for professional reviewers is advertising dollars.

Possible motivations for the imagination are endless.

I feel that manufacturers are in a race to produce better specs for bragging rights, for marketing purposes, even though they have long ago exceeded a human's capacity to resolve, but test equipment can keep going on and sales can continue to climb. This puts us poor chimps chumps in a bind. Just like camera companies jerk with sensors in P&S cameras that are geared to the average consumer to increase ISO specs even though the noise levels jack up, so they use software to smear the image to make the noise less obvious and in the process degrade the resolution such as the ISO increase is meaningless. The better audio companies do an honest effort to increase specs to stellar levels even though we can't possibly hear the differences. Then our imaginations turn loose, guided by advertising and human frailty, "I got to have the best."

I think he's in bad need of a makeover, not to mention anger management. And he can't use my cans until he takes a bath and brushes his teeth.

..just see this as an explosion after waiting for almost an year and at last seeing the frigging amp getting delivered in 1,5 weeks time.. soon i will be quiet again...and back to my 'lots of power'  is foolish outbursts ;)

ps..i just swallowed my be cool and relax pills...i can feel they are taking effect already ;)

You are just suffering from severe withdrawal since you've been without a good amp to find out what your new HP can really do for quite some time.

It's like having that blonde right there in front of you inviting ... but you can't do a thing.  I'll be pissed!  no less.  :D

As silly and passionate as you can be sometimes ( we are too), we all keep our fingers crossed for you that your amp will be the great.  It's your hard earned $.

With amps and the HE 500 being the hot topic I thought I might share

My favorite amp with the 500 has been the WA7 for quite a while which kind of pushes against the flow recently here as it pushes less than 1 watt

Every so often I switch back to the V181 which pushes around 2 watts it is a fine amp but there is a hard edge to the presentation

On the other hand the WA7 is soft and inviting, calling me back, I can't resist the warm glow

So if the 500 is the kingdom in the clouds I don't think power is the magic bean

Not that i'm discounting what you are saying, but power output is not the only difference between the WA7 and the v181, one is a tube amp and the other is a solid state, for instance.

Yeah I noticed that . What I was eluding to was the fact that I was very content with the 500 being driven with less than the minimum 1 watt

I don't really trust my ears, actually..

Personally, I'd prefer a more simplistic rack.

Agreed. That rack is kinda ugly, and Im sure way overpriced.

I have no relationship with this vendor but I have my eye on one of the VTIs.
