When AKG finally gets some "real" K712 pads into their US warehouse.  Annoyingly, they use the same part number for the K702 65th Anniversary pads and the K712 pads, but when each is purchased new, they come with different pads.  I took a chance and ordered a pair, and of course got the K702 Annie pads.  While the memory foam is extremely comfortable, they absolute killed my Q701s.  If they muffle that one, I hate to think what they'd do to the HE-500s.  Silly AKG.  At least they admitted they don't have the K712 pads atm.

....

annnnnnnnnnnnd cue my man Nimzerz! ;)

His mind is probably elsewhere at the moment.

I like shell smoking. Thought it was only known in the Netherlands, but guess not.

Shell? Did you start early?

Is your plan to get her wasted and take advantage of her headphones?

Ha, She'll have a great time, only she might not remember it. You're such a bad boy. What if you zone out and she takes advantage of you and you don't even remember?

You better check her driver's license for the age of consent. Otherwise, we'll be seeing your picture on CNN and you might not be wearing your headphones. Bah, teenagers:D

So how much are they getting for these Jerg pads you guys keep talking about? I looked through the DIY for the mod but havent seen any prices. Not interested in PM them about pricing as the pricing should be posted out there I would think. Ill PM him if I want to actually buy a set.

It's currently US$60 + shipping + Paypal fees (in case you pay that way).

AFAIK, interest list closed yesterday, but of course you can PM him and see how it goes.

Thanks for the info but meh, Im good. Im still dealing with the fact that I had to switch the pads to the velours, buy an HD-650 head pad to make the HE-500's fit something close to good, and spend money getting a different cable to replace the horrible one that it came with which rattles and grinds like a chain link fence every time I turned my head. I think Im done dumping money into a product that should be perfect right out of the box for the price they charge for it.

Can someone give me links to some good mesh I could use to replace the stock mesh, something preferably thin.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
I bought that cheap cushion headband on eBay but I'm really curious about the Senn's one.
It gets really hot where I live and the velour pads are a good option. Not the stock ones of course.

I just received a pair of Brainwavz HM5 leather pads I bought from Mp4nation. They are really good! They go for something like 20 shipped IIRC.

I don't want to pi$$ off Nimzerz, so I won't address the velours issue.  I will ask, though, how are the Brainwavz HM5s on your HE-500s, esp. in terms of fit on the mounting rings and room inside?

TIA.

It's true!  In Victorian England.  I made hats for all the lords and ladies of the court.  I was world renowned.  Look at me now... trolling here with the dregs, trying to make people see the light about ear pads.  Oh, how the mighty have fallen... :frown:
