Trust me, you'll have had enough red wine to make you beg for my HE-500s ;)

Glad your upgrade was worth it.  Truly.  I'll use my spare cash to explore some vineyards... or maybe buy one :D

Or u will pass out on the floor as here in europe some wines can have high precentage of alcohol biggrin.gif
Yeah until now i am very happy with my code-x..even starting to get an idea i struck gold with this buy although it was expensive....the other superbuy i did (also unexpected!) was the 337, which i just sold to a very happy fellow headfi'er who now uses him to drive his he6, his hd800 and his he500 through his excellent v800 dac, and in the process totally forgot his v200 amp i understand.. wink.gif

But the he500 was a headphone i cherished deeply as i did with the he300 when i was on a tight budget for a while..i loved the darkness and smoothness of that dynamic phone..especially with the modded mstage (ver. 1) i had..i took them with me as if they were portable! I even had a backpack in which i could take the mstage with me...
On the other hand i found the he400 completely awful...and i sold it very fast! That phone gave me severe headaches sometimes... And i didnt use it on high volumes...i even tried warmer sounding tubes like rca ones..but to no avail...

Hope the new 400! Will be less agressive and more balanced... I dont want a phone which needs to be equalized to listen to it..for me thats sacriligious in the worst sense...imho ofcourse

Am going to sleep..its 4:20am here..need my 4hours beauty sleep..tomorrow busy day...going to look for new furniture for new home with my ladies at home..FUN! .hehehe tongue.gif

Get some sleep and dream of the new HE-560 and save time by skipping the upgrade step from the new 400 whatever the number is.

Saw your pix in the other thread.  Now you just need a comfy kick-back-and-enjoy chair.  The back of the one in the shot not shown here makes my back cringe ;)

And don't mind StanD.  He's a troublemaker, as if it weren't painfully obvious (yeah, yeah, takes one to know one!)

Trouble is my middle name by mistake, it should have been my first name. :veryevil:

double +infinity on that comparison for sure!

sadly, I think it will be a number of months before a consensus (if ever? ha) is reached.

I wonder how much of it will be BS and the flash mob speaking out of turn.

I'm sure I'll be one of them. But I will have a 2hr drive home to think before I start speaking put of turn. I'm going to be putting some money down tomorrow on a pair of headphones. If I don't find the headphone that screams for me I will be waiting for the 560. Also very interested in the new pads as I find the current versions to be uncomfortable

Anyone throw on some Denon D2k pads? I had some laying around and I immediately prefer them to the velours (EDIT: Comfort wise). Maybe I'll try some of my old D2k pad mods ... aka stuffing cotton balls in the pads. They don't seem to sound as good though. More veiled, but much better bass.

I do have a comfy chair you just can't see it in the picture (it's on the side). :D I really really dig the Philips Miniwatt E88CC. I think I like them more than the Dario Miniwatt E188CC and the Telefunken ECC88. Also like them more than some other ones I've had, although I can't directly compare now.
