HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening. . - Page 770

The jade won't retain the planar bass, that's pretty much for sure. It might go deep and clean, but it just won't have that weight to the bass.

'Stats are 'stats. That just won't happen.

I like my red grills, just want to try larger openings.  What I want is that 1960s Star Trek costume material.  That should lend a little space to the HE-500s' soundstage.  Yeah, I'm bored.

I suspect that you will graduate to HE-6's with a transparent aluminum grill mod and an amplifier powered by antimatter. That should break your boredom.

It might.  For a week or two.  Looking into grills made from this schiit.  I want some seriously airy cans.

+1

ROFL. :veryevil: That's probably the only way it can reach 100% capability. A solar system nearby might implode as you're listening to the HE-6.

Airy? Did you airy? Why not remove the drivers and replace them with those tiny computer fans used to cool your CPU or GPU? Be Chill'in.

How's that for a mod?

Hey,

what do you think about t90s vs the he 500s ? (mids, treble, bass)

I already tested:

t1

hd 800

t 90

lcd 2/3

the lcd were quit to dark

t1 were nearly perfect 2 less bass

hd 800 same as with t1

t90 nearly as good as the t1, but its sometimes 2 bright like guitars, an eq could help ? Then they would be perfect.

I have recently try to use back my old Shure SRH940 after about 7-8months with the HE-500, and turned out I am so spoiled by the HE-500 that I found my once loved SRH940 sounded so sibilant and unnatural, and with poor bass...

that said it's only a matter of getting used to the HE-500, but I found my self in an one way road with no return

Oh my, I just turned down the volume -80db-ish on foobar instead of on windows, so then I went to facebook and played one of those vine videos....well....that was LOUD! Glad my ears AND the drivers are OK. The emo was at 12:00, if not slightly higher...

Hey guys, I just wanted to apologize about a previous post, and that I just received a pair of alpha pads.

Currently they have the darkest sound out anything I've ever tried. I can only compare them to the jergpads, which are the only alternative I have on hand. As many of you may know, the alpha pads are stupidly comfortable. They actually stick onto the sides of your face, thus relieving a lot of the pressure that the headband applies to your forehead. But I won't go into much detail (comfort is a yes or no question, its either there or not). Sound wise, they're dark, somewhat congested, and lack air compared to the jergpads, 5k is almost non-existent (they lack aggressiveness, yet are aggressive in a different way; more on that later), they actually have less sound stage width than stuffed jergpads (depth and height on the alpha pads are actually better). However, Alpha pads have amazing texture and layering abilities, vocals are very well rounded, and feel very real. Instruments have amazing timbre, and sound very coherent. Displaying amazing 3-dimensionality. However the sound lacks clarity and air.

Haha I'm on the same boat. Srh940 then upgraded to the he500 a few weeks ago.

I still love the srh940 for acoustic stuff though.
