Lyr and bifrost uber sound great never heard woo but some say not enough power The lyr needs some tube upgrades so figure in at least another $100

I just bought the HE-500, it's just that there are new models around the corner (he-560) so i'm not sure if should be happy that i paid "only" 490 € for 3 months old he-500.

But logically speaking new models don't make the soundquality of the older ones obsolete.

For now i'm curious if i will be satisfied with the he-500

/rant

The 560 will cost 899 euro probably so it's not a bad deal. I'm sticking with the HE-500 for now anyways!

I think you will be satisfied with the HE-500, they are really nice sounding headphones.  Love mine.   I was recently comparing them to some more expensive headphones and came away realizing that the HE-500's punch way above their price point.  Enjoy!

That looks familiar biggrin.gif

I have to say personally the WA7 DAC leaves much to be desired. It's not bad, better than Modi, but not as good as my current Audioengine D3. I would say the best thing the WA7 has going for it is that it's future proofed to an extent with 32 bit/192 KHz. My D3 only does 24/96, while downsampling 192 to 96.

Remember the oppo pm1? According to this source: http://stereos.about.com/od/Audio-Shows/ss/CES-2014-New-Audiophile-Headphones.htm

It will be priced between 1000 and 1200$.

Thanks to those of you that responded to my request for killer DAC / Amp combos. Most helpful as ever. Looks like Lyr / Bifrost - suitably maxed out - has gone to the top of the list. Let me know if anyone else has any other suggestions - thanks again.

Awesome. Do share sound impressions. Now I guess you just have to wait for your Blue Emotiva LED Circle.....:beerchug:

BTW are those Audeze pads?

Thanks..i already took them a million times out of the box to feel them...it feels so different..not glass slippery like..but organic.. biggrin.gif
And they are all woody! How cool is that? Lolz...

And no ...no audeZe pads..all custommade..and handmade by one man..as is the headband.. wink.gif

Blue emotiva led circle..hehehehehe ..yeah who knows...maybe both engineers work together biggrin.gif

yeah ur right..now its waiting on my amp....but he is (again) thinking of improvements for my amp..so it will take longer...as its his petproject he told me he puts al his new ideas in it...lucky me..soon i have an amp which is powered by gravity power of the earth.. biggrin.gif
But when i have him i will post a review about my new rig and take it to as many meets i can..am already looking for a case to transport it in..i read about pelican cases..but if anyone has other alternatives! I am open for suggestions. wink.gif

Couldn't wait for the 560. Got the he500 yesterday and running them on a modi and magni. Wow. Now. I can't wait what happens when I get a new amp and DAC sometime this year.
