Ofcourse I know they once used wooden cups...but also know they left that road because of woodcracking and maybe also budget reasons..
And in the recent times that they want to keep the price as low as possible and put most money into the sound i suppose the wood is not wood..but woodlike biggrin.gif

But u never know..they are always very surprising with what they come out with..it could be wood..
And its now waiting for the sibling of the he6.. He7?

Ps....the code-x doesnt have the original wooden cups..they have other wooden cups. wink.gif

Very interesting! Can't say I'm a fan of the look, it reminds me of fake wood inserts in car dashboards, but I'm hoping for real wood this time... Wonder where these two models will be pitched and whether the current HE-400 and HE-500 will be discontinued? If the sound quality is major jump forward then it will be interesting to see where this leaves the HE-6?

From the descriptions in the Cnet article, it seems as though these new cans have a more airy, 'stat-like tonality, so that could be where they differentiate from (rather than directly compete against) the current HFMs.

Stat-like sound, huh.  Let's start a new hype train.  I am on board already. :D

I might be at CES Thursday, not 100% but I'm going to try my best to go. I planned on heading straight for the audio stuff and already looked up where all the vendors will be. I'll keep you guys posted.

Our just fearful. Fearful that the HE-560 from a Magni will sound better than your Code-X with blue circle tongue.gif

I doubt it..am not afraid...or fearful..if so..then i just buy a he560 or the new upcoming he7 and sell my code-x..easy as that... Thats the good thing with limited editions..u always find a buyer for it.. But only if those two new headphones made a HUGE step forward in sound i doubt it will sound better..but u never know biggrin.gif

And why was i expecting a post like that from u? biggrin.gif

Because I am very afraid of the HE-560 being better than Emotiva HE-500 or even HD800. It will keep me up tonight for sure.

You may have saw this already but there is a Ces HiFiMan thread on the headphone form and an insider provided the numbers on the sensitivity. 90db for the 560 and 93/94 for the 400i

The HD 800 is unique, they may be better sounding out there to certain ears, but nothing I have heard sounds like it. HE-500/HD800 are a very complimentary pairing to me.

Which is insane considering they are single-ended (and the massively reduced weight shows it, only 360g / 380g respectively, compared to HE400/500 which are 440g / 502g).

The new headband contributes partially to the weight decrease of course.

Lolz.. Am sure u can use ur emotiva on the he560.. Or else u just have to buy a headphone amp..oh the horror for u biggrin.gif

Seriously...with the numbers i just read i am indeed afraid that the emotiva is to powerful for the he560.

But its not keeping me up...a very smart lady in my life once said to me..be happy with what u have now, and not what u could have tomorrow wink.gif
