Nice, it apparently has a lot of power, and I want something, peformance wise, as close to the Stingray.

I'll need more than one extra serving of Ras Malai to compensate.

A bit oftopic..but as some are anxious for my new amp..i show here my first pic i got from the builder...

And am soooo jumpin up and down now..as its first 'in process' pic of my new amp...and i didnt want to keep it from u guys...as soon i have more pics and when i get the amp itself i will start a dedicated thread concerning this amp...for anyone interested ofcourse biggrin.gif

and u cant imagine it...its all handwork by one person!!!

And for ur info also...the psu and transformer will be something like this..same case..only completely black with glossy black front to match my amp case.

..although the amp case will have a real stainless cover..just like its backside! Look at the thickness of that stainless steel on the back! wink.gif
Front side with the round holes will have dual xlr 3pin and one single ended headphone output tongue.gif
As i said..its not MY PSU..but similar and it will have same case... biggrin.gif

Has anyone tried the Rega Brio-R with the HE-500? That will most likely be my next upgrade for the HE-500. Its also a 50W amp like the Mini-X, but more inputs and a phono stage so would be nice to be able to listen to my turntable with the HE-500 (keep those annoying pops and noises to myself :p). I hooked up my Emotiva Mini-X to my speakers and boy did they sound awful with the Mini-X, bloated bass and a lack of control. It's definitely a budget speaker amplifier ok..

I also have a MBA and love the notebook. As an aside its the only Apple product I own, for the rest I use Android phones and tablets. I thought Mac laptops were highly overpriced till I checked out most Windows notebooks. It would be tough to put into words the disgust I feel at Windows 8 and 8.1 as long term Windows user. It is so clunky to use without a touch screen and touch screens on laptops just feel so counter intuitive. I have made the transition to Mac OS last year and I really like it so far and there will be no going back. And if I need to run Windows applications I run them full screen through Parallels virtualization. Its fun keeping my work and play separately on the same computer. As a bonus I can also encrypt the Windows VM as well. Best of both worlds I would say with great hardware to match.

@hifimanrookie, that looks like one serious amplifier. Love that power supply! Hope there is a headphone out there to do it justice!

hifimanrookie:

We can tell that the energy efficiency rating on that amp is not going to make any environmentalists happy. :beerchug:

And if u look carefully u wont find any on-off switch..yep..thats right..it will be on 24-7 biggrin.gif as i said..i wanted minimalistic and efficient design..and by god i got what i wished for... wink.gif
And ur right..it wont win any energy efficiency prices. biggrin.gif

Ps..the big round hole in middle of amp is for the emblem of the brand..a blue circle. wink.gif

The emo has a blue circle. Does that count for something?
I find it to be pretty good with my floostanders. And bass is not bloated at all.

Geez look at how packed it is internally. Looks very heavy

Am getting nightmares already about the postage costs for transport from canada to the netherlands, as it indeed doesnt look it only weighs 20lbs/9kg... If i am not mistaken the psu case itself would count for at least 20lbs..but i have to hear the concrete weight when its ready...this amp is going to be really expensive with all the xtra costs as i am not even calculating the +35% taxes and customcosts!!! redface.gif poor me biggrin.gif

@hifimanrookie, I reckon our national electricity provider would pay you keep that amplifier turned off at the wall.. After all we are sitting at a comfortable national utilisation level of 95%.

U reckon? biggrin.gif Shal i tell u a secret? I asked the builder to keep the on-off switch out! As i read his builts based on opamps sound on its best being always on... And thats what we all want right? Best sound possible for our budget...whether emotiva, lyr, little dot, darkvoice or blue circle audio or any other brand we use with our phones....we all want the same..
