Pretty much why we aren't in summit-fi. Those are for the crazies who spend literal fortunes on gear.

I agree...but what i found out myself since recently..if u do have the budget its ur first jump into higher end stuff.. I can tell from experience now wink.gif
The he500 is getting the high end phone for the masses.. Normal peeps..like the GTR in the automotive world..supercar performance without the supercar pricetag...and use affordable amps to drive it.

I think thats also the reason why the moderators kicked this thread out of summit fi.

As.far i know the emotiva is unique in that pricecatagory... But why bass? Music is not only about bass. If u want bass just get a beats phone. biggrin.gif
I honestly never understood why people consider a component who gives bass as good...u hear it often...asking if the bass is good..as if thats the most important thing of the music..and thats what brands like emotiva and shiit Do it right..they market their more budget (affordable) models towards people who think that... And thats fine if they make people happy with that...
But as one said here..there are much better amps...but for a price ofcourse.. biggrin.gif

Do you only have the Hifiman HE-500 or do you have to amp other headphones too? Also what do you dislike about a tube amp?

Saddly, I know of no amps that can drive the HE-500 perfectly based on my experience, as my experience is lacking. Ohh the pain admitting that :(

Which amps did you pair them with?

So far? Just my humble x-can v8. I think it does a pretty good job after all. It outputs 1.3 W into 32 ohms. It is a tube hybrid by the way. Else, I have tried some other amps briefly. That's about it.
