i agree..as in my case 2 years ago i was the proud owner of a mstage..last year i bought the 337 and u guys know whats coming next very soon
Same thing with source: ipod touch-cowon d2-hm602
Same again thing with headphones...bose-Qjays-Um3x-mmx300-he300-he400 and now he500.. Next logical step to complement my new amp next year is the he6 or 7(if it comes out)
My point... With these kind of hobbies u tend to get better stuff as long ur budget allows it...as when u start it can be very addictive... Like with tuberolling or any other hobby in which u can get better stuff then urs..
Yup, I agree. I'm so happy I never got into tubes. Some of them are cheap and some can get crazy expensive. The allure of spending mere $20 on tubes to find a particular sound can take it's toll quite fast. Then you end up with ten tubes. Suddenly you're into tubes and start going into more expensive tubes. Soon you'll have tubes worth more than the amp itself. Finally, you realize that maybe you'll try another amp. LOL no thanks. Only way I'll do tubes is if I can try it myself for an extended amount of time. Then there's a whole family of tubes name that I have to learn. For once my laziness has resulted in something positive
That upgradititis itch is a serious b****, especially when you're new into this. I remember 2-3 years back. Even though I spent much less around that time, there was just sooooo much room for buying stuff and spent much more time in this. It was like a disease. Of course at that time I never even thought of LCD-2 or HE-500, much less LCD-3. LOL I ignored all of those Audeze/Hifiman posts for a good few months. All I knew was LCD-2 = bass haha. It was all about that Pro 900, D2000/D5000, DT990, HD650, AKG 701.
I'm going to pick up a really transparent and neutral DAC and stop there with DACs. Fudge that whole DAC synergy thing. Pick one neutral DAC for everything and change sound with speakers/headphones. Maybe 2-3 amps at max. Having recently heard the LCD-3 on multiple setups ranging from $2000-$5000, there's very little difference between my current setup. Noticeable and definitely more enjoyable, but very little. Definitely going to invest on different speakers/headphones over messing with different amps to change the sound. I already knew that going in, but it was nice to have it confirmed for my own peace of mind.
I might consider a Hifiman again after I get my DAC and possibly have an amp that can suit it already (although the Emotiva will be a good backup). Got to wait to see what Fang has up his sleeves.
