I agree with that most conditioners dont add nothing to the soundquality..but the PLC. Thingee is one of the few who dont interfere with the soundquality..

If one is not experiencing power drop outs, line noise or EMI coming in from the power line the one does not need such a device. This will not improve your SQ, it will only increase the distance between ones wallet and some of its former contents.

As always, you are probably right about that. I am just trying to see it from hfmrookie's perspective Also, a power conditioner can potentially degrade sq as I see it.

What do you amp your 500's with by the way?

I find that the 500's not too demanding I've been using a FiiO E12 as well as a vintage Techniques reciever. The FiiO E12 does an amazing job, it sounds good and can get plenty loud.   Don't bother using a cellphone or most DAPs, they lack the muscle.
Unless there is soimething drstically wrong with the conditioner, I don't see how that would degrade the sound, it will however tap your wallet.

My perspective?? What kind is that?????????????? What u mean?

never ever used any kind of conditioner..as my 337 sounded worse with those things between the amp and the wall....but i didnt use my laptop as source in that rig..i used a dedicated hm602 on batteries..

With my new rig i use my laptop..and the rubbish powersupply of my laptop makes my dac (I did try it out many times!!!) hum (very low hum).. So i had to find a problem to solve that..as using my laptop on its battery is not a solution as in 3 hours its empty when using jriver...
gilbert from Bc then adviced me that instead of buying a very expensive powercable with a conditioner inside it (FROM HIM)...he adviced to try his inexpensive PLC thingee fx2.. Thats customer service! Not trying to sell the more expensive stuff...but really think WITh the customer! And he thought the less expensive PLC. Thingee would do a better job..

And from what i read about him and what i know now myself by calling and emailing him..he is mr. Minimize..all he makes is in the name of making his amps sounding better..thats why his plc thingee is in a pvc tube..to save costs..he could put it in a flashy case and ask 500 more...but imstead he invests in what matters..yes...the plc thingee looks rubbish...but that makes it so special.... I will let u know if it actually helps in cleaning up the sound..am very sceptic...but as its cheap..i will try it out

For the record...i never ever beleived in those kind of things...i always connected my amp directly into the wall... As the electricity network here in the netherlands is very stabile...and as far i know..clean... So for that i dont need any conditioner..i am just trying out if it helps minimizing the interference of the powersupply of the asus laptop i have...
Am also looking if there is a upgraded powersupply for a laptop..like u can get for a dac.

The power brick for your laptop is probably not filtering the 60 hz hum and there's probably too much ripple in the DC voltage coming from your brick. Putting a conditioner between the powerline and the brick will not do the trick as that will not change the fact that there is 120 VAC 60 Hz coming into the brick ad the brick sucks. Perhaps you can find a better quality brick or perhaps the one that came with your laptop is defective, You can measure the AC on the output from your brick with an AC voltmeter (multi-meter) or see it with an oscilloscope, if you have the instruments available.

Here in europe we use 230v at 50hz
Am googling now for upgrading powersupply..not much to find

I will contact asus here in the netherlands if i can use a powersupply of their ROG (their super high end gaming stuff) laptops with my multimedia i7 laptop..those laptops use extreme gpu's ..so i am guessing the psu must also be of premium quality..

How about a 12V DC car battery? I remember a lot of people powering some very nice sounding T-amps from car batteries... Otherwise for PC power supplies I can recommend PSU units made by Seasonic. Corsair also use them in their AX range and they have very low ripple noise and good AC filtering.

I wouldn't use an inverter unless it was a very good one. Most DC->AC converters result in quite dirty power like in most UPS device.. Something like a UPS is more aimed at keeping your equipment alive, than worrying about how nice the sine wave looks!  I'd rather hedge my bet on a good power conditioner.

And if the hum is coming from his power brick not filtering the AC ripple on its DC output, how is a power line conditioner going to solve this?

A glue gun cures many things, especially those pesky transformers with humming coils!  

Well, I just thought the idea of taking power from the wall and regenerate a fresh signal sounded quite neat vs some passive filters to reduce different problems and forms of noise.
I have no experience in this, though.

Looking to try out the Balanced XLR output on my Yulong DA8 (and future headphoneamps) with my HE500s. Been looking into the Toxic silver widow or poison so I am going to request an adapter from Frank so that I can have the standard 1/4 input and an adapter that will allow me to use the 3 pin xlr. The only issue is that 4 pin xlr seems to be more standard nowadays.

How about a powersupply with batteries inside that u can charge? And then use it as a sort of accu for the laptop while disconnected from the net.
