DIY upgrade for LD mk II parts suggestions / feedback

I've been thinking of upgrading my LD mk II. I currently have Mullard M8161 driver tubes and plan on buying EH 6H30PI power tubes as well. But what i'm posting here about is the internals.

I'm thinking of upgrading the signal film caps circled in RED with auricap .68uF and 2.2uF respectively, the YELLOW (signal resistors?) with 0.1% percision vishay-dale resistors, the GREEN with Neutrik locking headphone jack, and the ORANGE with a ALPS blue velvet potentiometer. I'd also need a new case, considering the size of some of these parts... What i'm hoping to do is lower the noise floor via quieter resistors and potentiometer and achieve tighter bass with new capacitors. Comments / Suggestions?

Unless the resistors are VERY high impedance carbon composition types in a high gain circuit you wont lower the noise floor audibly by changing them. Im pretty sure LD uses metal film resistors, could be wrong, but I doubt it.

 

Changing from the best to the worst caps has basically no effect on noise floor. If your unlucky the lower-end caps may actually smear over and mask a little of the noise - which then comes through stronger with the better caps. 

 

 

For the amount of effort you will exert in re-casing this amp to fit larger parts you could just build something different. There are tons of great options. Bijou, morgan jones clone, Lockheed F-22, any number of transformer coupled tube amps, etc, etc.
