The original plan had tubes that are nearly impossible to find anymore (yeah I looked a month or so ago when I wanted a tube amp).

I know there are numerous mods that have used different tubes, but I am not sure of any down to the minor details tutorial on those mods. I gave up on it and have since been considering SS more and more.

That's not to discourage you or anything, I'm just saying that with older tube projects, a lot of times the tube used becomes nearly impossible to find unless you follow mods and alternate methods of building them

i actually got ahold of a pair of the 19J6 tubes from www.vacuumtubesinc.com there in the mail. im thinking im just going to go with what looks like the original bom from www.pmillett.com/starving.htm

The one at DIYforums is pretty up-to-date, I used it this summer with modifications for 12AU7 tubes and I don't think much has changed besides personal additions.

There's an active thread on the starving student, which contains what you want to find.

The link given above has the schematic and current BOM for the hard-to-find 19J6 tubes.  Search the other starving student thread for a post from the_equalizer for easily available alternate tubes.  The tube socket and two resistors change, IIRC.

I would use the diyforums.org BOM

http://diyforums.org/SSMH/SSMHbom.php

Keep in mind that the power caps were chosen because of space concerns w/ the PCB.

I would change those for Panasonic FM caps of the same value.

Other than that, everything is good.
