I'm sure all of you guys know great alternatives to Bose's sub 400 dollar CD player System, Any really great ones for under 100? Preferably under 50, not expecting the BEST.thanks :)

Sansa Clip+ combined with a Fiio S9? Basically a mp3 player with a portable powered speaker. Makes more sense to me than a cheap boombox.

Search ebay , craigslist , for a cd player , amp and speakers.

I can think of two, and I own them both.

Proton 300/301 - this is, as some call it, the best table radio ever made.  You can run it as a stand-alone or as dual powered speakers.  I almost forgot to mention that it is biamped.  It will need a CDP, but its sound quality justifies it.  I see these on eBay often, and at reasonable prices.  Mine was ten bucks.  Sorry, no headphone jack.

JVC MX-1 - this is the grandaddy of all those MX-series boomboxes, but its styling is far less gooky.  In fact, the styling of the MX-1 seems a bit Soundesignish.  This thing has a tuner, dual cassettes, CD, fan cooling, and bi-amping for the full-range speakers and the subwoofers inside each speaker cabinet.  I like them so well, I have bought two so far, and each was under forty bucks.
