Headphones, Amp, and Soundcard Recommendations

I am looking into getting a nice set up headphones with an amp hooked up to a sound card. I am thinking of getting the beyerdynamics DT 990 600 ohm premium headphones, the Fiio e9 amp, and the Creative titanium HD.

Does that seem like a good setup? I will be dividing my time between games, movies and music and wanted headphones with good bass.

I will be honest I am pretty new to the whole audio scene. My budget is probably going to be around 700 dollars, but may be able to go higher.  Would any of you recommend a different setup?

Nice setup you have in mind :) Have you ever considered the Ultrasone Pro 900? They are supposed to be some of the best quality bass headphones out there. Special note on the quality part. The soundcard is a very good choice of yours and the amp should match the rest nicely.

I have not looked at the ultrasone pro 900 at all, but I will go look them up right now.  Thanks for the tip.

Perfect setup here we go; HD650, WA6, and some sort of DAC or soundcard.

I wouldn't touch creatives soundcards with a stick. After 3 of theirs i am now a loyal asus-owner.

I'd recommend the Essence-series cards.

Next time, explain specifically what were your issues, and what did you do to either fix them or create them in the first place. Mindless hating helps no one.

While you absolutely right about meaningless statement I totally agree that axis essence gives you greater soound for music listening after upgrading opamps for less than $20

I won't even nitpick the typos you (purposely?) did there. I'll just amuse myself over the fact that you praise ASUS Essence cards over unknown Creative cards. Given that the top range Creative card matches easily the Essence STX card, I am quite curious about your statement.

EDIT: Psst psst, did I mention that the Creative card is less expensive that the Essence card, and at least as good sounding? tongue.gif Oh, and opamps are replaceable as well.
