Want General Purpose Rig

Hi everyone, sometime soon I am planning on buying some new headphones.  I think I have decided on the dt880 (maybe dt990).  I would like to get a good dac and amp which can sort of serve as building blocks for a system.  I think I might get several different headphones as time goes on as I listen to a lot of different music so I am just sort of looking for a system that can grow with me.  I'm sort of leaning towards a separate amp/dac as that would make upgrading easier.  Also, I will probably add decent speakers at some time.  I might actually be able to get a harman/kardon pm640 amp from my dad (its old).  It has a headphone output but I'm not sure of the quality of the headphone amplification.  I might actually be able to snag some boston acoustic HD7 speakers from him as well but again, I know nothing about these.  

 

Any advice is appreciated.

If you're looking at entry level components the FiiO E9 amp is hard to beat for the price. The HRT Music Streamer II or the FiiO E7 are also good entry level DACs.

what is your budget? i think that would definitely help to narrow choices

Haha yeah that would be helpful wouldn't it.  I am looking to spend about $700 on the dac and amp.  I am sort of leaning more towards the dt990 600 ohm now because they are supposed to be a bit more fun, which I sort of want to try and should be better for gaming immersion.  I am thinking about getting the schiit Valhalla, HRT MusicStreamer II and dt990 600.  Any thoughts on this would be great.

can't say i heard any of that gear before but it definitely sounds good haha :) i know the valhalla is a really nice amp and the musicstreamer seems to be a relatively popular dac around  here. i'm sure it'll be nice. that's a really nice rig though haha. wish i had that kind of money to spend
