Amp/Speaker Swtich effect sound ?

Hey guys,

I'm using an Auzentech Prelude as my source. I use a splitter to connect it to the Little Dot MKIVse, but I get very annoyed having to go behind my pc to change the connections everytime I want to listen to my speakers.

My father suggested using an A/B switch from Radioshack.

So right now I have RCA's going from my amp to the switch and I also have my Z5500's hooked up to the switch as well.

My main question is, Will I impair the sound by using the switch ?

I just listened to a couple songs and the sound seemed a lil dim, but I think it might be all in my head, what do you guys think?

The switcher is a alot better option than the splitter.

Thanks. Good to know. This is the switch I got from my dad: http://milo.com/2-way-audio-video-selector-switch It's a few years old I think, but as long as there's sound coming out that means I'm good to go right? I'm about to head to Radioshack to pick up some RCA's for it.

That particular RadioShack switcher DEGRADES sound quality. It was not your imagination.

Anyone who said otherwise has never used it. wink_face.gif

Why would a switch degrade sound quality? It has no active components... confused.gif

What type of switch do you recommend and how exactly does it degrade the sound? I'm very interested to find out.

I found a couple switchers and need some help deciding.

1. http://www.amazon.com/RCA-DT902AV-2-Way-V-Switcher/dp/B0014KOAD8/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304031024&sr=8-1-fkmr1

2. http://www.jr.com/terk/pe/TRK_VS4/#productTabDetails

If it's gonna cost me more than $30 bugs to get a good switch 'll probably just stick to manually changing the interconnects when switching.

Don't mean to complicate your life, but check out the speaker and source selectors at http://www.phonepreamps.com.  They're a bit more expensive than what you're looking at so far, but they will be quiet, good quality, and the guy who owns the business stands behind the product.  He'd probably give you some advice if you contacted him.

Thanks for the tip but if it costs more than $30 I probably will just stick to manually unplugging my cables. It's definitely not a need, but more of something that will make it more convenient for me to switch sources. Thanks anyways. Also that link doesn't work.

Yeah, it should have been http://www.phonopreamps.com.  I think there's at least one for less that $30.
