I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

I didn't think of TEAC when I began searching for a dedicated CD player. My initial short list included Denon, Cambridge, Marantz, Onkyo. The Teac intrigued me, so I went for it. It is very...

Oyaide's site can be found here, they appear to be a very legitimate site with good quality equipment. I believe that their cables are what Kingwa (Audio GD) uses in his upgraded power cables, wlthough I may be wrong there. The plugs on either end of the one I have look exactly like the plugs oyaide is selling.

The cable itself is made in Japan, as stated by FiiO, not the whole LOD.
Oyaide is a very reputable Japanese cable maker and also distribute FiiO products in Japan (search cable forum and you'll see). At first, It was actually Oyaide's request to FiiO to supply LOD to Japanese market. Oyaide would supply the cable to FiiO to manufacture the LOD. The original LOD is meant only to be sold by Oyaide in Japan under Oyaide's own brand (model: HPC-D3.5), so basically it is an OEM job for FiiO. But FiiO later get Oyaide permission to sell the LOD worldwide, except in Japan (where it will still be sold under Oyaide's own brand). That's the story.

I might be a bit slow here. but what is it funny about being defective? I once bought a $500 IEM that turns out to be a lemon, should I laugh really loud about it?

Oyaide has been around for a while. They've got a reputation for making quality power-related products (cables, wall outlets, plugs, etc.).
