Hey, I'm new to this audio world and I wanted to start out as a newbie

I was wondering if I needed to get an E7 if I had an E9 with a astro mixamp.

And what do I connect it to the CPU with I'm using a creative sound card, do these cans use optical 3.5mm?.. I'd love someone to fill

me in with as much info with these as they can, Thanks.

Summary: I want to know If I need an E7 if I have an astro mixamp, because I'm not exactly sure what an E7 is

E7 is a portable headphone amp with built-in digital-to-analogue converter (DAC).  It plugs into the E9 so you can use the E9 in place of the E7's decrepit built-in amp.

If you can, grab a better DAC to pair with the E9, and since you want to use optical, make sure the DAC has optical digital input.  Optical input is only for DACs, headphones can't use optical input themselves.

Or you can just stick with the astro amp.

thanks a lot for the reply, can you suggest any other dacs?

I recommend a Zero DAC.  You should ask here instead, and make sure to mention your budget.  You'll get more suggestions there, and also by searching.
