I'd like to ask if anybody knows if its dangerous for either the card or the desktop amp if I connect a Talisman T-33H amp to the headphone-out interface of the Essence ST?
There's a warning in the soundcard's manual warning against connecting speakers to the headphone-out as it may damage the speakers. I'm not sure if this applies to amps too. (The setting used will be Normal Gain (0db) - but I'm unsure how much current the card is going to pump out - and if that's damaging in any way).
The tpa6120a2 component also specifies that the minimum load should be 16ohms.
Reason for wanting to use the headphone-out is that the sound card only offers Dolby Headphone processing when connected via that jack. If it's safe to do so, then I will try both audio-outs to see which one I like. If the headphone-out is damaging, then I will have to think twice before doing so.
Any ideas guys?
