Which digital source

Does it matter which source from my computer I use to feed my dac.

Using windows 7.

Source can be from either my xfi xtrememusic or from the onoard realtek.

Since it is digital I suppose it might not matter?

If you have SPDIF. out on the X-Fi, use that. The benefits are arguable, but it's favored over USB regardless.

I have spdif on my motherboard.

Any reason why the xfi would be better than the mobo?

I don't love the win7 xfi drivers and wouldn't mind trashing the card all together.

Since that's the case, I'd do an A/B test and just use which ever one sounds better to you.
