FiiO E7 as DAC between my desktop and Darkvoice 337?

I am buying a Darkvoice 337 and it is gonna basically take all of my extra money, and I think I will need a DAC between my desktop and that nice DV337. Will the FiiO E7's DAC work well enough as a dedicated DAC for the meantime until I can afford a Dacmagic? If there are alternatives, they need to be portable and around the same price. If it isn't portable then I might not have anything to do with it since I don't want to rely on the FS forums here to get my money back on it. I could maybe put it in a portable rig if I got a portable. So..?

The simple answer is yes. It's a great entry level DAC, and it's so cheap you can immediately use it until you get a higher level DAC. That's exactly what I'm trying to do. Though I'm going with a newer DAC (looking at the upcoming Schiit DACs.).

The E7 is a capable DAC, the only problem is that it requires the desktop E9 companion to provide the line-out function! The E7, by itself only has headphone outputs - you've got to get the E9 for now or wait for the L7 (i think that's the name!) dock connector that is supposed to come out soon providing the E7 with a line-out function sans the E9. I guess at this point if you want to keep it cheap look for another alternative! that's unless you already have the E9.

It doesn't need the E9 anymore. The Fiio L7 has been released for $10, which gives the E7 a true line out. I ordered mine already.

Thanks guys! I'll get a used E7 off here if it's at a good price and get the L7. Does the USB port on the L7 act as an input?

Pretty sure that's to connect to the computer for the DAC function/charging.

The E7 is also a pretty capable DAC, it's not a great DAC but hey it's better than the uDAC in my opinion, and this place was all ga-ga for the uDAC and a lot of people were agreeing it was a giant killer able to match thousand dollar DACs -- and it didn't even have a line-out function. The E7 with L7 at least has true line-out. And still cheaper!
