Sony or audio technica?????? - Page 2

Get the V6 and no amp. I was happy with them (but then the hd25 came trumphant... different story). V6 is durable and very compact, less bulky than the M50.

cord is too big tho, but so the ATH coiled one.

I m kinda short on cash, so is the amp absolutely necessary for both phones? Or is it good without that also

For rock, I recommend the Ultrasone HFI 580. A much better choice IMO due much higher bass impact potential over the other headphones listed and overall more aggressive sound signature.

They are good without amps, and you will be able to drive them with a ipod nano, sansa clip+ or whatever you're using. Personally however I need earbleeding volume, so music without an amp is not an option for me.

go with the ath-m50 or shure srh-750dj. i've listened to the sony xb-700 before in bestbuy and they sound like mufflers, utter crap imho. if you want cheep active noise canceling you can look into the audio technica ath-anc7, but they wont sound as good as the other two i suggested; active noice canceling kills sound quality.

ps, none of those headphones need an amplifier. buy one of them, and then never come back to this site, your wallet will thank you latter.
