Patch for Rockbox'd Fuze v2 to enable line-out.

Thread Starter

Hey all, just thought I'd share a cool find:

I found a patch for Rockbox, it enables line out on the Sansa Fuze v2  through a simple setting that you can put on your homescreen to switch between line out and headphone. It was literally posted just today, but I compiled Rockbox with the patch applied and sure enough, it works perfectly!

I'm not about to post a version of Rockbox that I self-compiled, but here's a link to the patch on the Rockbox patch tracker.

If you need help figuring out how to compile Rockbox and apply patches, look around the Docs Index on the Rockbox site, and I think there might even be a YouTube video or two to help you get started.

Good luck!

it works fine for the Sansa firmware but it doesnt work on Rockbox...i dont know anything about applying the patch that the thread starter posted.

Isn't the headphone out on max the same as the line out on the fuze?

maybe this is useful for people with broken jacks?

from what ive read about it, there is at least a slight improvement with the line out.

either way, i would still benefit from this because the Headphone Out on my Fuze is on its way out...the left channel cuts out alot.

so yes, again...if anyone would like to help out some of us inexperienced Rockbox users so we can use this feature please...

Ok, sorry guys, I've been busy lately, didn't notice this even had posts in it. The RockBox Wiki has EVERYTHING you could need to learn how to build your own Rockbox distro with the above patch. Be prepared to do work if you've never compiled anything before. I just don't have the time to write a perfect guide and I can't just upload my build, I don't want to be at all responsible if something were to go wrong. But yeah, I mean, it works. Figure it out and you'll learn a lot in the process I'm sure.

Resurrecting an old thread here.  I am interested in finding a copy of Rockbox that was compiled to work with the line out.  I think I could compile it myself, but it would take me hours to figure it out, and I really only need it for this one application.  Would you be willing to share your build?  I suspect that there are many people who would be able to use it, and speaking for myself, I would not hold you responsible for anything that goes wrong.  If it is working for you, I should be able to get it working for myself.  Worst case I have to reinstall the firmware, no biggie.

Please consider upping your build, I think there are many of us who would like to be able to use the line out on the Fuze with Rockbox.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Aaron.

its been awhile since ive fooled around with my old Fuze and Rockbox and all...

anyway i finally took some time today and i got the build from the link to work on my old Fuze. using the line out of course im listening to it right now with my E11 and Audio Technica ATH-ES7's.

i think i notice a difference in clarity compared to the HO but i have an issue already with the EQ settings. it seems that changing the Rockbox EQ settings makes the sound quality take a hit just like it does on the original Fuze EQ. along with that, any adjustments from the EQ settings barely make any difference especially compared to how they work using the headphone out.

i doesnt seem like Rockbox on the Fuze just wasnt meant for use with the line out...prolly why its not included with official releases.
