Koss 4aa

Thread Starter

What is everyone's opinion on using a set of Koss4aa headphones on my computer with a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme sound card??

bad idea??

Need an amp??

MEElectronics HT-21 a better idea??

Want to keep the total cost "within reason"  so if new card and reasonably priced phones is the way to go, let me know.

Thanks in advance

95 SPL and 250 ohm, ouch.  You need an amp for that, and a beefy one.

MEElectronics HT-21: 114 SPL, 32ohms - very, very efficient, it will probably even hiss a bit depending on what you plug them into.

More than 106 SPL and very low impedance (ohms) is asking for hiss, lol.  Less than 98 SPL is asking for an amp.

I really liked the Koss 4a's I had at one time, Max.  Wanna recommend an amp?

You could try a Matrix M-Stage or Audio-gd C2.1/2SA.  There are more options around those prices.

For less money, a used Audio-gd Sparrow might also be good.
