How warm/hot does your DAP get?

In a possibly vain effort to determine the Teclast T-51/S:Flo2's poor reliability issues -- a device known to run quite warm -- I want to query the general Head-Fi DAP-using crowd ...

How warm during use (playing music)?

How warm while charging?

I don't have an iPhone, iPod Touch or any of the new-style cell/mobile phone devices (similar to the S:Flo2/Teclast device). How do warm do, e.g., the iPhone, iPod Touch, etc. usually run?

If you own/have owned/have used the Teclast/MP4Nation devices, please compare/contrast them to other DAPs -- thanks!

Thanks Tronz!

For all intents and purposes, we should  include in this discussion ...

iPhone (as Teclasl, MP4Nation devices are somewhat similar)

iPod Touch

(and older/'legacy' products like iPod classic).

Anyway, I should answer my own question! ...

QLS QA-350 -- the external charger gets quite warm while charging, but the unit runs cool. I've finger-tested the ICs inside while the unit has been in use for 1hr+ and they are all cool. Nice!

T-51/S:Flo2 -- charges mildly warm and runs very warm (regardless of file type, including processor-intensive FLAC). Yikes!

Cowon/iAudio X5 (2005/2006 60GB model) -- runs warm, charges very warm. The charger ckt is troublesome. When it goes -- I've had three X5's and that's what seems to go first in these units -- the whole unit charges hot!

Cowon U3 -- (USB charge) Cool and v. reliable!!

How warm?  Depends on the song I'm playing...  rolleyes.gif

Back on topic though, my Cowon D3 gets VERY warm doing almost anything else but playing music.  Every other device I have beside my 4th gen iPod Touch hasn't gotten warm enough for me to notice. The Touch will warm up when playing difficult games.
