Hi, I'm looking for a new portable mp3 player and in-ear headphones. After reading a lot of reviews and tests I've chosen Phonak Audeo 012, but I don't know which mp3 would be better. Im listening in 90% to metal. Sound quality is more important than design.
Price range for headphones is around audeo price and for mp3 player its around e2 and n2.
Please help.

sry for my bad english.

Depending on your location(shipping charges), the sansa clip+ is another great player in that price range.  And I dont think you can beat the Phonak PFE 012 (order grey filters) for metal in that price range.  Maybe RE-Zero but according to Joker's review the PFE trumps it in sound quality and sounstage.  And these are also my findings with the RE-0 vs. PFE.

My S9 is loaded with Kamelot, Nightwish, Epica, Hammerfall, Dream Theater and Fuseboxx; earphones are JLabs J3, but I'm about to get the SE420 since they're on sale locally and for $240 that seems like a fair price for its detailed but not harsh treble. In any case the EQ's great, almost like what I can get from some Alpine stereos circa 2004 to 2007. I don't use teh BBE and Stereo Enhance though.

Current EQ settings are :

BBE and STE = OFF
Band 1 : 0
Band 2 : Centre Freq = 200hz, Wide, +2
Band 3 : Centre Freq = 780hz, Wide, +2
Band 4 : Centre Freq = 2.4khz, Wide, +3
Band 5 : 0
