Is there anyway to repair a DT770 if the voice coil cables get disconnected on a DT770?

Of course after posting this I finally found a thread with a related question. My cables are not visible anymore, is it possible to unwind two pieces of the voice coil?

Sadly its not really possible to unwind the voice coils on these headphones.

If you really like the sound wait for another set to come up for sale second hand, and use the ones you have now as a shell to put frankenstein drivers in. or sell the ones you have now as "dead parts".

Depending which exact model you have (some of the drivers are different sizes) Grado drivers may fit with some modifications. KOSS drivers from the KSC-75/portapro may also work. I didnt try with SFI-ortho drivers but they are quite popular so it cant hurt to keep them in mind :)

In another thread last week or so SteveEddy posted a link to a 600ohm driver from mouser that may also fit. The specs look kind of poopy WRT low-end frequency response, but IME the headphone enclosure brings a LOT of its own sound to the system.
