HiFiMan RE-ZERO v.s. Brainwavz M3

I think I have narrowed down my search for new earbuds/IEMs (under $100) to these two.  I primarily listen to acoustic jazz and chamber music these days.  The phones will be ran directly from my iPod with no amp.

I borrowed the the Monster Turbines which cost more than both of these and find them to be terrible for acoustic music, stuffy, not very accurate, and bass heavy.

I am new to the IEM field of headphones.  I typically listen to regular headphones.  Would either of these be better than the Monster Turbines? Or am I wasting my time trying to find something better for less money?

Thanks.

What fullsize headphones do you typically listen to? That will tell us a bit more about your sound signature preferences and allow us to give better advice. Recommendations are difficult because both the IEMs you mentioned are quality choices, they just have radically different sound signatures.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.

I typically prefer the Grado "house sound."

In that case, I'd try the re-zero. It's relatively balanced but should still have that clear treble and midrange you like from the grados, and a punchy rather than hard hitting bass.

That sounds exactly like what I'm looking for.  Many thanks!

That was easy. :)
