Beats Studio's are rebrands?

After checking out my friends Shure SRH240's he recently bought and realizing how similar they looked to the Beats Studio, it makes me think the Beats Studio headphones are rebrands of the Shure's but with a slight redesign. I further looked into this and looked at both technical specs side to side it seems like they have the same exact driver which is a 40mm driver with a frequency range of 20Hz - 20 KHz.

 

Thoughts anyone?

Have you tried an A/B comparison on sound quality. That'll tell if they're truly copies. They do look very similar, though. At least to me.

the drivers could have been tweaked for low end power and the natural degradation could occur like that.

You don't even need to change the drivers, you can change the sound signature quite a bit by just modifying the housing...and seeing as how there's circuitry in it for NC too, there could be some basic passive EQing going on too.

 

They do look fairly similar, I must say...

that and the beats have a  built in amp that boosts teh bass so they very well could be a reskinned.
