kinda new to IEMS and portable setups here but, I just got my clas + continental tried connecting it via LOD to the 4s but have no sound come out, is there a specific program I'm supposed to have?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

You should not use a lod cable as that is analog but a usb cable (I assume one is included or use the white one from Apple). No program required

my bad, it wasn't an LOD it was the iphone connector to usb.

So i just put in the wrong  term, but yes I'm using the right connection. Phone, dac, then amp; tried restarting 4s still didn't work.

Double check that your connection from the CLAS to the Continental is correct.

While playing music, switch the CLAS off, wait a few seconds then back on. That should fix it.

If there is still a problem, I would isolate components to narrow it down. For example, is the Continental working with just a line out from the 4S? Is sound coming from the CLAS line out playing from the 4S? (Test this with a different amp, not directly into headphones. It is very loud. IEMs in particular could be damaged.)

But I do think that you probably have connection/cable problems.

I tested it via amp only w/o the clas, still no sound. I sold all my home amps so only ones I really have are poweramps for speakers pretty high rated 150w / 4ohms.

Have you also tried a mini-mini from iPhone headphone out to Continental ?

If that also doe not work then the Continental is at fault. If that works it seems the dock connector on the iPhone is at fault

Tried 3.5mm to 3.5mm, also didn't work so now I really think the continental is at fault :(.. now I gotta wait even longer for an RMA.

Yes I agree that the problem seems to be the Continental, not the CLAS.

Some things to check:

- Using the iPhone 4S connected directly to the Continental with the the mini to mini, be sure that (1) the iPhone headphone out is plugged into the the Continental line in, and (2) your headphones are plugged into the Continental headphone jack.

- Is the power indicator on the Continental lighting up? (If it is like the CLAS, the power switch itself should light green).

- If you have the original Continental, there is no gain switch, I believe. If there is a gain switch, try playing with that.

- Lastly be sure that your mini to mini cable isn't broken and causing the problem...

Good luck!

Continental has an orange LED, tried all of the above, still not working; I'm sure the mini to mini isn't the problem since I've used other mini to minis'

Ordered my second battery today.

I'll do the funch-mod as soon as it arrives.

Here's a link to the iPod plug pinout. http://pinouts.ru/PortableDevices/ipod_pinout.shtml

I'm wondering that if one were to follow the instructions in the third paragraph of the notes

for pin 27, the CLAS would then charge the iPod since it outputs 5VDC through the

USB connector when it's turned on.

I think this has been discussed somewhere earlier in this thread with a reply from one of the clas developers. Something about the clas telling the iPod not to charge when the link is established
post #898 of 940

Well, I guess that makes sense, since you wouldn't want the iPod to run down the CLAS' battery. The CLAS' battery also only

outputs 4 volts, so it may not work anyway.

Thanks for the info BTW.

Just got back from a trip and my second battery was waiting... Need to decide if I am going to stuff it in there over the weekend before flying Monday?

On this trip the iPod classic was still the first battery to give up the ghost in the stack... Makes me consider a touch again... Wish they'd introduce one with bigger storage.

I am hoping that with the rumoured change to Hi-res itunes that they may bring out some upgraded ipods too to match.  ahhhh  dreaming of high res with a slick user interface....dream dream dream........
