Excellent!  Glad you're back in business!  :beerchug:

What's the battery life people are getting with a 160gb ipod classic?

The battery itself runs for well over 20 hours but with the solo, only 5 hours, after that the battery indicator suddenly drops from 60% to 0%.

my battery life with my iPod Classic was super low, and even lower because when the CLAS uses the raw signal from the iPod, the iPod uses ALOT more juice, so my battery life with the iPod when used along with the CLAS dropped to around 5 hours? so I was thinking about replacing the battery, but an interesting thing happened when I switched that same iPod over to the CLAS-R when I got it, the -R will charge the iPod when in use, so it never runs down, and I never wound up replacing the battery also, and ran it like that for the last 2 years or so,

I recently used the iPod off of the CLAS-R to burn in my HA-2, to see if that would open up the sound, it didn't? but was amazed when I found out that the battery life had came back BBIIIGGG time!!!! I mean I ran this thing while I was away to work for over 10 hours, and it hardly made a dent in the battery life???????? whaaaat???? I thought for certain that I would come home to find out that the battery had died, but it didn't? and not by a long shot, not sure how long it would run, but my estimate would be Iput it back to up to close to 25 + hours or so?? that it would run normally, wwhhaatt??  I would knock that down to maybe 12 hours with using it along with the original CLAS though,

so for some reason this lil ol' 5 hour iPod when used with the CLAS, transformed into 25+ hours of regular use, only by being continuously charged/running off of the CLAS-R for 2 + years or so as I did, pretty sweet deal if you ask me,

but isn't this with the charging enabled on the clas-r with the ipod on low battery?

Basically it's the clas-r that's giving the amazing battery life.

What's strange is sometimes when I plug in the ipod with the original solo, the charging icon appears for 1 second than disappears. This tells me there may actually be a hack to enable charging while in digital transport mode.

The venture craft dd socket would have been the perfect dac if it supported charging while the unit was on and running. Every else was perfect in the way how it would let you switch between charge and no charger both in digital transport mode. If the original solo had this function, it would be the best of both worlds. Oh wait there's the R-/db but it's out of my price range plus I much prefer the original sq with the wolfson dac and don't care about having balanced out. Also since there no option to choice to turn of f charging, I'll end up reducing the ipod's battery life every time. It's also even more thick and bulky.

yep I know about the -R's charging ability, I was using it off of the -R, not using the -R, the -R was someplace else, lol, well I was using it with the HA-2, while not in charge mode like the -R does, with the HA-2 it's an option, unlike the -R which charges the iPod weather you want it to or not,

anyways I guess the ultimate test would be to play the iPod straight up with the HO only? looks like I will put my hypothesis to the test,

yes I've looked into VentureCraft, they have some good looking gear, I'm interested in there dbl tube amp found here http://venturecraft.jp/gadget_en/gtt/index.php

yea I really like the original CLAS also, but convienence won over with the -Rs charging ability with my failing iPods battery issue,

yep the main concern is overcharging the ipod especially when the battery is already full.

Have fun attempting to draining the battery of a fully charged classic thought the headphone jack, took me over 25 hours! :)

btw how does the ha-2 dac compare with the solo R?

lol, sounds like fun to me!

well lets just say I returned the HA-2 within the week? oh what the heck lets not just say, alot of folks seem to love the HA-2, and it is a great piece of art, a handsome all in one unit, thin and rugged, it was very nice to be able to use sources other then an iPod, but in the end I found it to sound congested/closed off compared to -R, the -R had a much bigger soundstgage, and I tried other amps along with the HA-2s line out, and even they couldn't hold up along with how the -R worked with those same amps,
