Rudi, thank you and your friends for the test. I think now the issue is quite specific to my setup somehow. As such I've modified my preliminary impressions removing my experiences about the hum.

You are welcome Sean
I haven't really been following the CLAS thread anymore (happy Solo owner) but someone gifted a me a new 7G iPod for christmas with the new connector. Of course I can use the long stock apple cable to connect it to my CLAS but I'm used to a short ipod to usb cable (I used an ALO one)
My question is if there already are (cheap) aftermarket cables available for the ipod + CLAS with the new lightning connector. And if so, who's making them?
Thanks!

I'm confused. Which 7G iPod uses a Lightning connector?
I am guessing he is on about the new nano, just checked apples site and the classic still has the old style dock ( and thankfully is still for sale!)
Anak's, thank you for your honest impressions as to sound difference between the blackbird and RX3. I would agree that the RX is more 'HiFi' sounding over the Blackbird which is why I prefer the blackbird as to my ears it is more musical. It's funny as I am completely happy with its single ended performance with my PF IX's in fact I get more sense of space and scale running single ended with them than I ever did running balanced with the LCD's!
Over the time I have had the Blackbird I would say the sound is more tube like than dark. Reading the thoughts on the new solo only goes to strengthen my resolve to keep my original as again it seems to be more musical than HiFi from what I read here.

And yes, Ian, thank you Apple for not discontinuing or "updating" the Classic. It saves me having to buy another one now to hold in reserve.

Have you tried contacting some of the major cable makers, like Whiplash, Moon, and ALO? I'd be willing to be that at least 1 of them has the new connectors. If not, you should be able to buy the part somewhere and have one of the DIY/smaller shop MOT guys here make an LOD for you.

VentureCraft Go-DAP has been selling lighting -> USB for some time now. Sadly this is in Japanese. 1st item includes the lightning to microUSB for Y4,980 :-
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/japanshop/v1lc4a/

Would this work?
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD820ZM/A/lightning-to-micro-usb-adapter?fnode=45
That would work with the 2nd item below - the Y1,980

"MISINFORMATION SORRY IT DOESN"T WORK" don't buy read on
well for anyone that has iPod battery issues like my iPod Classic 7th gen battery was the bottle neck, not anymore! it's an iLuvs found here and at a great price! http://www.ebay.com/itm/iLuv-i603-Battery-Booster-with-Silicone-Case-for-iPod-/190543007203?pt=Other_MP3_Player_ Accessories& hash= item2c5d3f8de3, bestest thing of all the CLAS hookes up to it!
here's some pics of what I am charging, has a great low profile and fits like a glove, can't wait to NOT having my bleeping ipod run out in the middle of my audio sessions? you can leave it in its case, or pull it out for an even smaller footprint,
double batteries in my CLAS and now this, along with my Voyager, I will be able to go a week without having to charge anything up!
I will get the CLAS-R on mon so this won't be need along with that rig? anyways if you're using an original CLAS this is the ticket!
