Mine have been shipped via Fedex Also!... So your not the only one dude!

Kind of ridiculous seeing as Fedex takes about 3-4 days longer to deliver then DHL. Not happy about the change in shipping. I wouldve had my phones this friday or latest next monday. I call BS.

I havent been stung with any sort of Tax invoice. So it definitely looks like they are trying to charge more, for the route the phones are taking to get to you.

At the rate its supposed to be delivered, it's actually a few days faster for me. But I like DHL more than FedEx...

Yeah, I don't get why I'm charged. They are obviously trying to take some kind of ridiculous detour. This better all work out.

Wow that sucks Katun. I hope it all gets fixed. When you do talk to hifiman let us know why you got hit with these charges. If thats the case for those $200 charges, that is 100% a deal breaker for me i dont care how good the HE 500's sound.

The HD800 is the only dynamic I've ever heard that plays in that league of speed.  Its a step up from any other dynamic.

That said, I fond the HD800s bad for most metal because of their soundstage.  Its always huge whether or not the recording calls for it.

The artificial soundstage gets annoying real fast. Their bright signature is another aspect that I disliked.

Is Fedex trying to collect $200?  Or is that just what they are saying the goods were billed at.

Definitely touch base with them...you should not be paying an additional $200.

When HifiMan sent me HE-4's and HE-500's for my meet, I had to pay $27 in duty to DHL.

I payed $20 for shipping, and that's all I want to pay. I understand that customs has fees and what not, but I think frequent international seller should at least be able to give you an idea of what they will be an not blind side you with those fees.

The value placed on the 500s were $200 for shipping purposes. I didn't pay anything.

That's what I think it is, Katun...just the price you supposedly paid for customs purposes.

How can the seller know what the VAT/customs fees are in every country? It's not being charged to everyone. I've gotten both the HE-6 and the 500s sent direct from China without incurring a fee.

Just a rough estimate would be nice, and that's what's confusing me...I've never seen CONUS divided into different sections for shipping...It just seems weird to me.

Then again, I'm not an international company, so I don't know really. lol

Check post #359 for what one of the documents she attached to the email. It was the run down of the invoice.

I'm no expert with shipping and such, but if my total invoice is $200, is that the fee I have to pay for the customs and whatnot?

I got a response from Head-Direct asking for the receipt for the HE-500. I then gave it to them. They then sent me another email stating, "Your package has shipped via FedEx today and has left China, blah, blah, blah". Pretty much, it was everything I already knew, but it wasn't an associate email, it was just one of those automatic bot emails. But I'm surprised Ms. T hasn't responded to me yet. I sent another email just so she knows, but so far, stuff is NOT looking good for me. What exactly happens if I don't fill out all those customs, acknowledge my $200 invoice, send my SSN over email, and grant every request they have? Would the never give it to me, or would they just fine me?

This is really getting annoying. I paid my $20 shipping fee when I bought them equaling $920, and that is ALL I planned on paying. If I had ANY IDEA there was custom fees, I would have instantly ordered the LCD-2 instead, even though I highly preferred the HE-500.

When you send something internationally, you have to declare the worth of the thing you're sending for the customs of the country you're sending it to. Most of the Chinese companies declare their values very low so that their buyers from the US won't have to pay custom fees. I believe that is what 200 bucks is about. Ibasso and Little Dot declare very low values for their amps so that no one pays for duty fees. If you ask people that are outside the US who bought LCD-2, they'll tell you that they paid custom fees because Audez'e declare the cost of the headphones directly. If Hifiman declared that the cost of the headphones were 900 bucks or something, yeah you would have to pay custom fees. I believe, and I may be mistaken, that 200 bucks thing is done by Hifiman so that you won't have to pay the fee that you would if it were declared 900 or whatever the price you bought them for.

Yeah, but what about all the other users that didn't have to pay a penny? And all the users that got theirs shipped DHL? My first package from them which was $720 went very smoothly, and I didn't have to do anything at all. Now, it's a big fat pain in the but, and not only do I obviously not want to pay the fee, but I seriously cannot figure out how to do the customs. There is so much crap to fill out and half the stuff I have no clue what it means, or why in the heck they would need it. She emails me and pretty much tells me to get my butt in gear and hurry to fill those out or else it will be delayed. What?! I still cannot even comprehend what's going on and she want me to send four documents chalk full of information and a tip of $200? I don't think so.

But as said before, if I had heard this from any other user, I would have went Audeze route; regardless of my preferences.

Chill til you speak to FedEx.  I'm sure that 'total invoice' is just what they are claiming you paid.  This is done to keep any taxes and/or duties low or non-existent.

As to buying something Internationally...consider yourself lucky that we live here...most other countries WOULD be imposing a s much as a 50% duty on the goods.
