One can never be absolutely certain, from reviews, but from what I can gather, the 8As are a bit too thick/syrupy for my tastes.

I like a reasonably 'airy' presentation.

Thanks anyway! tongue.gif

Based on your tastes and how you like the Miracles, I think the 1Plus2, JH13 FP or even Kaede seem more suited.

I hear the 1plus2 is talented but can sound a bit unrefined at times.

JH13 FP, I am aware of but I'm very wary of JH since they have a reputation (even the 13) for having overenthusiastic bass response.

Haven't heard of the 'Kaede'...

..but let's not derail the SE-5 thread. Maybe chat about this in the multiCIEM thread...

It depends on the songs, the volumes that you listening to. Also the size and the age of your ears ;p. I need to start to protect my hair cells, they are dying fast! lol

lol you've always been a loud volume listener though? ;). At least that is what I gathered from you enjoying the Hifiman 801 and not so keen on the Studio V and DX100 initially :). I'm actually a bit scarred of the devices where I can listen to them at very dangerous levels. Then again I think I have enough sense to know when I've had enough fun.

If you listen so loud that your hair is falling, maybe it is a bit much indeed...

Hopefully there's enough room in my ears with all the hair follicles I have to accommodate the SE5. Looks like I'll be pulling the trigger on them after-all :). Greed and I are going to order together. Seems with multiple orders combined you can get a discount ;).
