Reconsider Bieber

Ok, lets get this straight; i am a man first of all (9th grade) and so i am not easily distracted by his looks at all and i am now starting to maybe like his musical abilities. I just watched a video of him singing Back at one from Brian McKnight and than i saw this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5Jw-T4dVss&feature=channel_video_title) which i though was good and it showed his abilities. With that video i saw his reflection off of Michael Jackson with his emotionality in that song and with Rascal Flatts he was keeping Bieber on track IMO and they were overall a good combination.

Uh.  No.

You call yourself a "man" in ninth grade?

Uhh......Let me school you some.  I'm 21, and I still consider myself to be a teenager.  9th grade (14-15 year old) hardly qualifies as a "man".  Try again when your 30.

And no, I won't reconsider Bieber until his voice drops by about 3 octaves.  Even then, he's part of pop music, and I will NOT have anything to do with that abysmal genre.

LoL...sorry, but those of us who grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Alice Copper, AC/DC and Metallica wonder what happened to the music kids today listen to? confused_face(1).gif

Wow...my parents thought my music was evil...and now it's like 180 degrees in the opposite direction.

I know Justin is a good Canadian kid and all, but I try not to have his music played for my kids....I'd rather play Ozzy Osborne for them. biggrin.gif

LOL, my brother walked into my room and i was listening to some Brian McKnight and he was like thats not what 15 year olds listen to. I do listen to pop music (by todays standards) but none of that is recorded (except a few) like it was in the ol' days and that music is what sounds the best, that is why i listen to it but the truth of the matter is, alot of its about loveconfused.gif

I saw Michael Jackson. Bieber, is nowhere near the talent of Michael Jackson as an artist in its purest sense. Sorry, but for us older people, the bar has been raised so high. Too high, I'm afraid.

I generally dislike people who are considered to be sexier than I am.

I dislike everyone.

I would strongly recommend you pick up the following albums:

Zeppelin IV (Led Zeppelin)
Back in Black (AC/DC)
Paranoid (Black Sabbath)
Master of Puppets (Metallica)

Might open a whole new world. biggrin.gif

EDIT: And to blow your mind, Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Wish You Where Here, and Meddle (and anything else Pink Floyd).

I'm only 17 and I've grown up listening to all of that... makes me wonder why nobody else has.

However:
Back In Black only gives half the story, you need to throw some Bon Scott at him too
Zeppelin IV is probably behind the excitement (speed) of the original Led Zeppelin and I think I like Physical Graffiti the best.
Yes to the Sabbath, but there's some great Dio era stuff too (not quite the same as the AC/DC scenario, but there is another side to Sabbath with Dio at the helm)
And Metallica, for a pop fan right now, ween him off it with Metallica rather than MoP. Then you can hit him with anything but Death Magnetic tongue.gif

And amazingness exists anywhere Pink Floyd is. DSotM is a classic and must be heard.

Don't forget Jeff Buckley and Tool. And throw in some Guns N' Roses for good measure.

definitely not. metal and classic rock is the music i listen to and i avoid most things pop. i was lucky as my mother was a rocker in the 80s, so i grew up with metal such as metallica. and classic rock such as pink floyd and acdc, as well as black sabbath and led zeppelin. perhaps i just got lucky but i like to think that even if i didn't grow up with it i would still become a metalhead somehow. biggrin.gif

This thread could not possibly end well since it's just too much fun to bash Justin Bieber, regardless of whether he's talented or not.

From what I've seen he is in fact quite talented. He CAN sing well (since when are unbroken voices bad?) and is apparently reasonably good at playing a variety of instruments. Of course, he wouldn't be allowed to display his true talent. He is in the iron grasp of his record company and wouldn't be allowed to do anything risky in case they lose their most profitable cash cow.
