Demons the new release by the Junkies is fantastic both the recording and the music. Vic Chestnutt songs who was friends with them and commited suicide in December of 09. Really great stuff. Now if they would just tour.

Saw them last year during their Renmin Park tour. They were terrific.

Thanks for the reminder that this CD drops next week. Will definitely pick it up.

Thank you for the heads up!

I've been a longtime fan of the Cowboy Junkies and a more recent fan of Vic Chesnutt. I really enjoyed his collaboration with Elf Power.

Judging from reviews, and a listen through samples, this one is going to be very easy to like. Among their best, apparently. So I'll be getting it for sure.

But first I'm about to take delivery of their previous one, Remnin Park, despite it's mixed reviews. Partly because I like it when a band occasionally tries something more experimental and partly because the CD happened to be on sale for £3.99. I'll enjoy that one and hopefully in the meantime Demons will come down from its current full price.

I've also got a fair number of their older releases, and love them all - Cowboy Junkies are one of my long term favourites.

Let us know what you thnk of Remnin Park. That is the first of the Nomad Series Demons being the 2nd album and two more to come . The Demons album is outstanding and Margo never sounded so good. Beautiful songs and well recorded.

On just one and a half listens, I'm really enjoying it. I expected it to be harder than usual to get into, but it wasn't.

There's lots of China street sound snippets thrown in between and during songs. I can see why this may distract some, but I like it. Definitely an album to consider as a whole, which is more varied and experimental than the average CJ album.

Sound quality is good too (haven't yet come across a bad sounding CJ album). However, some of the street sounds are deliberately thin and distorted and there are significant differences of presentation between tracks.

The only thing I don't like is the CD's mean booklet. No lyrics, no introduction to the Nomad concept, and no explanation as to why China?

From just listening to the songs, the theme seems to be that life is hard, very hard. But then I don't expect sunshine and happiness from a Cowboy Junkies album! Looking forward to Demons.

I will pick it up as its party of the 4 albums that will be released. Glad you like it. I think it would be hard for them to do a really bad album. Demons is excellent and I also picked up Layin it Down which is also outstanding. They do not do many concerts wish they did more. I missed them last year in Philly. I hope they bring them back

One of my favorite bands. My favorite albums are the live albums; Trinity Sessions, 200Miles, the Long Journey Home.

Indeed a great album.

They picked the more melodic songs of Vic, and transferred them to some really likeable music.

One of the better CD's of the Cowboy Junkies.
