DIY pocket amp, is the CMOY still the recommended one to start with?

DIY pocket amp, is the CMOY still the recommended one to start with?   This will be my first pocket amp.  Is Tangents guide the most complete?

Yes, the CMoy is pretty much still the de facto starter amp.

Myself, I would use a lower gain than he suggests, but in the

end to you to chose the gain that suits you best.

Other than that, Tangents guide is excellent.

 

Some options to consider are rechargeable batteries and

trickle charger and a voltage dependent power LED.

How long is the battery life on these amps?  I plan on using it daily at work, 6 hours a day.

Thats pretty hard to predict. Anywhere from 20 to 40 hours on a single 9 volt alkaline battery.

I have a three channel amp (LT1364/LT1363) with an eight cell NiHM AAA battery. It runs for

about 48 hours.
