Touch 4 sounded better to me than the 2G and 3G...hell I think it's on par with the S:Flo 2.

OMG our not serious are you, Ive never heard of any true Audiophile liking or loving the Ipod for its SQ, serious.

I had always tought that Ipods were a compete flop when it came to SQ, I mean I even think the Creative Zen Vision M, Zen Nomad Jukebox and Zen Touches SQ crap over the Ipods, serious.

Hell I'll bite. I'm serious, I think iPod Touches/iPhones are completely decent and even good in a portable machine.

Don't think, listen before judging.

Lol dont worry I love teasing Ipod users, even my brother who owns a Iphone 4, only probelem is he uses those cheap nasty white earbuds to me is a waste of time and you wont apprecaite good SQ unless u drive good headphones and this way than you appreciate good SQ :-), but let me be honest here, I live in Perth Australia and what $hits me about these Ipod users is that they walk around with these pathetic white earbuds, sorry just hate it.

+1. My Touch 4G with Equalizer stands right up with my Sony S639, Cowon i9, my two Rockboxed Clip+'s, and the two Rockboxed Fuzes that I'm selling tomorrow.

Sorry for the OT, don't own the Touch 4G, but own the Touch 1G which is crap via the HO, and barely decent through LOD.

However on my iPhone 4, there's almost negligible differences between the HO and LOD... which is darn impressive! Gonna compare using the Ultrasone Ed8 and see if a higher-end pair of fones make any difference in that impression :)

Otherwise, currently my iPhone on airplane mode is my preferred i-Device DAP... beats even my iPod 5.5g thru LOD (not iModded).

Count me as an iPod touch 4 convert. Got a rockboxed clip+ whihc I have been happy with, but have been playing with my daughters new ipod touch 4- its a great toy as well as a music player. The sound quality, using the the same mp3 encoding, or AAC or whatever, with the same headphones (seinheser hd-25 ii)  (also tried with other headphones) is certainly louder, but also sounds cleaner and fuller thean the clip. Now I know about eq settings etc, but with much playing and listening, I now go back on all those years of sneering at ipod users - or maybe this 4th gen is just alot better? Anyway, with some decent phones, it is really as good probably better than the clip+.

Never used a Touch, but the iPhone 4 sounds damn good. I went from using HD650's with an $850 HeadRoom amp/dac with my laptop to now using AiAiAi TMA-1's straight out of the iPhone 4 headphone jack. I am not disapointed one bit. The iPhone 4 is plenty powerful for IEM's and portable headphones, actually has amazing clarity and detail, and very impressive soundstage/imaging. I am very impressed with my iPhone 4 as a music player. I use Mog mostly, which is 320kbps, i also use no eq.

Not sure if the Touch sounds as good, but saying Apple's all sound like crap is just stupid and ignorant.
