Just purchased the Audio Technica M50/ How To Break In

I just purchased the Audio Technica M50's last week and love them. However, I've done a lot of reading and would like to know how best to break them in to maximize the listening experience. Please let me know the best method to do so (what songs to play/how long/ on what setting/ etc).

I bought these headphones based on my research on Head-fi so thanks to all of the posters and for help with this!

Load all the songs in your entire collection on the computer into a playlist, shuffle it, play at a volume 1~2 steps higher than your normal listening volume over-night for a few nights; make sure to wrap some heavy clothing around so it doesn't leak sound too much and disrupt your sleep.

Just listen to music. There's no science to it.

Stick them on your head and press play.

Thanks for the responses. Some people had just mentioned other ways to burn them in. What EQ settings do you guys typically use on an iPod? I listen to all sorts of music; club, indie, rock, rap, etc. I had been leaving it on the dance EQ, but I think there may be better. Any suggestions?

I don't use any EQ and they sound pretty good without it. For me personally, I just play pink noise over and over again, but the fun part is to just listen to them and let it burn in naturally. biggrin.gif

I bought them used and still felt sound change after some time - burning in of the brain ; )

As for EQ - I don't own ipad, but even with foobar's built in one I felt SQ decrese. Only parametric EQ (I use Electri-q) did the job for me
