hey there! this is going to be my 1st expensive amp/dac. theyre kindof around the same price and im just wondering which one is more recommended?

im planning on getting an active speakers to come with it.

PC"coax"/PS3"optical">DAC/AMP>Active speakers... i may get the krk rp5-8 unless theres a better active speakers around krk's price...

i also have a pair of aiaiai TMA-1s.

i listen to mostly hiphop, RnB and Rock.. some instrumentals and acoustics..

i also watch a lot of movies and shows so i may need a big impacting DAC/amp

so yeah what would you recommend? thanks a lot! i hope i get replies!

I wouldn't really trust Musiland or retailers/distributors who stock MD11 (chances are they're trying to get rid of stock). There are design flaws/quality control/driver/firmware/hardware/usability problems all for your $400 delivered biggrin.gif ... You can seriously do better and I really wouldn't recommend getting an MD11 (I couldn't even sell my one for $200 biggrin.gif ).

Sound quality is not great and you have a rather large DC offset on line out and other assorted issues (don't know if your speakers have caps in line, but yes....). The headphone amp is far from fantastic and also leaves much to be desired (noise floor, higher impedance cans, etc)...

That said, MD11's the sound sig on line out does match what you want. It's not the crispest, but (because of that) on the other hand the bass impact and depth on line out are more than adequate.

MD10 was almost completely different (USB section (similar chip, but class 1, no custom drivers or > 24b48k), DAC chip, etc).
ADG nfb-10wm is on the way from china. We'll see how that goes biggrin.gif ...

well, it seems to have its own quirks (e.g. tenor chip not supporting 88.2k), but we'll see how it goes.

You could also consider Hlly smk-iii. It seems to have a lot of features (balanced and se outputs, nice hp amp, etc) and is well regarded on the forum http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/509150/new-hlly-smk-iii-digital-audio-decoder despite Hlly's, errr, 'questionable past.' You can then drive the monitors using XLR out.

Could also try Yulong D100, but you'd have to get it used, and I'm a bit hesitant to recommend one after having issues with my unit.
