Im looking to get a vintage receiver and im ready to drop some dough (not that i want to, tho i would prefer a unit that needs work) and im deciding on weather to get a vintage Marantz (heard that they are very good, but very pricy, and i love the lights:D) and the nice Kenwood (that is also very nice, has wood like the 226 doesn't and has more blue lights:DD).What do you guys think?

Looking at the internal layout of those two, makes me feel the Marantz is the better choice.

It seems more thought through, easier to disassemble and doesn't have cables running all over the place.

This is important as it will make it easier to figure out and repair when needed.

I have not heard the Kenwood, and there are a lot of people who like them. I have a Marantz 2275, though, and it sounds absolutely killer. So I would have to recommend the Marantz based just on that, and the overall reputation of that era of Marantz receivers.

I knew you were going to comment Skylab,i think i am going to get a Kenwood 9000 or 11000gx with a blackplate because they are harder to find and IMO are better looking. IMO i think the Marantz are a little over priced because people have discovered them and buying up the whole vintage inventory of them all.
