Hello
I have my all my discs in 'mint' condition: To, the best of my ability. All, play perfectly fine; Even, a disc, I accidentaly scratched... Somewhat, beyond, the light scratching - visible only within, intense lighting.
Any way, I have noticed on some old or even new discs: The dye where the information is read is not perfectly proportioned. On most discs, this dye is perfectly symmetrical. Like, perfect layers of circles. The 'defective' discs (Are they defective!!!?) have bends or wedges all bent off place, on the dye.
Although, the CD plays excellent now...
Is this a flaw? Should I be concerned for the future of these discs?
It is somewhat alarming, only because on rare CDs; I see, how a copy of that CD, is ridiculously expensive... As it is out of print.
And within the last concern, how will scratching a CD, in general affect the lifespan?
And for the EXTREMELY RARE discs: Am I doomed to unexpectedly, eventually, soon... Loose them?
What is the lifespan of a CD, if it is nicely taken care of?
Has anyone had, a properly taken care of disc; Just, flat out, stop working?
I have a 'Chandos' CD, printed on 1983 - That, looks as good or better... Than some of my new discs. Maybe, nobody knows.
Thanks, for reading. ANY help appreciated.
