This is what you get from Monster!

Long story made short, my dad went into RadioShack for me and bought me an HDMI to DVI connector. The RadioShack man scammed my dad in buying the "best" connector their which is the Monster. I than hooked everything up, everything worked fine. Than a month and a half later i go to undo my connector (because there was no image on my monitor, so i undo it and re-hook it up) and the blue HDMI side was very warm and gooie. I see the little connector for the HDMI cable stick out, so i un-hook the whole thing and than boom, it falls out? I am amazed because a check $1 that i found online is doing better that the ridiculously priced $40 one. What the heck Monster?

frown.gif Sorry to hear you dad got ripped off.  That's why I don't own any Monster products, they have a shady record.

I would take it back and complain. Radio Shack is pretty good about that.

Thanks, ive tried returning it but nothing. They just blamed it on us. Its to bad because that is the last remaining parts store for electronics. With that kind of customer service my mom said i should just buy it elsewhere.

Who physically goes to electronics stores anymore?  I thought everyone buys online nowadays. ;)

I order almost everything on line, so what I go and search out reviews, read up on product x and end up finding terrible gems like head-fi, which show you that everything you were considering is crap and that you need to upgrade. Oh the wonderous terrors of the internet.

Yes, i do the same. You cant try on Jeans without knowing how it fits, as each manufacturer is different. Once you figure that out, than you can find them elsewhere.

Places like Newegg and Monoprice are your friends for exactly these kinds of items. This isn't pants or shoes, it's a $2 at most adapter that either works or it doesn't. Monster charges RS a big fat markup and they in turn charge YOU another big fat markup, and when something goes wrong with the $40 piece of garbage, well then you're SOL. Good thing you bought B&M right, peace of mind! Wrong.

I like Monoprice cables as they are cheap and sound pretty good, however one should be wary of ordering from them online.  Awhile back they had a database of about 10,000 credit card numbers stolen, mine included.  Some people had $5,000+ fraudulent charges.  I only had about $70 but it was hell trying to get the money back from my bank and I had to stop payment on the card and have a new one issued, and subsequently change all my automatic debit information online.

Yeah I heard about that. Fortunately my information wasn't compromised, but that definitely sucks for the people who had to deal with that. Supposedly they have stepped up their security considerably since that happened, but if they still make you nervous, Newegg, Amazon, and plenty of other big time online stores have loads of cheap cables and adapters. I've ordered several ~$10 HDMI cables from Newegg and not a single one has given me any trouble whatsoever.

monoprice is my favorite place to buy cables, ive never seen cheap cables built so well, they are cheaper then even the cheapo cables at best buy yet they are built VERY well. the only hdmi cable i have managed to not destroy (im very hard on cables) is the one i got from monoprice, the rest are ruined.

I really don't know how these (mostly) Chinese companies that makes these cables (and things like my smart phone mount) make any money. I buy a lot from Monoprice and it's all excellent. I just bought a smartphone car mount that is very good quality, solid construction, all for $3 shipped from Hong Kong. You would think the shipping would be that much!
