$300-350 tube amp for 32-ohm cans ? - Page 2

I think it's the Violectric that's the warm amp. I've never heard it and will defer you to the thread further down on this page.

Thanks Baka - very informative, and I didnt realise that the WA6 wasnt euphonic - I realise that its not a trait that every tube amp fan is necessarily chasing, but I'm weird like that.

My first generation MP-301 is transformer coupled and drives my low-sensitivity, low-impedance k701 quite nicely. With the right tubes, the sound is definitely euphonious. Having said that, though, I wouldn't say this combo is great for rock. I'm guessing that's more of a reflection on the cans than the amp. (The MK2 version of the MP-301 is supposed to be more powerful with better extension at both ends, but I only heard it briefly at a meet so I can't say definitively.)

Get a HiFiMAN EF5 hybrid amp, seriously. It's everything you're asking for. $400 new or less if you can find it second hand. It's all very subjective, but I love mine with Denon 7000s. I recently A/Bed it with my newly bought Meier Concerto (a more expensive SS amp) and surprisingly the EF5 won my favor. Better bass definition, emotionally engaging, well rounded - just very musical. I don't think you'll be sorry if you take this route.

i owned the ef5- it is a great amp for sure.  i owned 3 other amps at the same time, and foud that the best of the 4 was the Cavali audio CTH - it is a DIY only amp but i found one on here for less than $300.

it is widely accepted as a excellent amp that performs well above its price range.  Tube Hybrid amps are great
