A Question about repairing some Alessandro MS1's

Thread Starter

I bought some used Alessandro MS1's off of here about a year and a half ago.  They have worked very well up until a couple weeks ago when (and excuse my lack of knowledge of terminology) the wire from the splitter to the left speaker has caused me some trouble.  The left speaker has no output unless I wiggle and push the wire into the splitter and hold it there.  I'm not really down for getting new headphones at the moment, so what is the easiest/cheapest way to deal with this?  Like I said, they're used so I don't have the warranty information or anything and this is a problem I'm not sure how to deal with.  Thanks!

Recable?

You could also break apart the y-splitter piece and open up the insulation to where you can solder together the broken connection and close everything up again.  You'll want some plasti-dip or regular electrical tape to seal the connection there then some 3:1 heatshrink that can slip over the plug so you can slide it up to the y-split, I suppose.

My best bet would have a reputable re-cabler on Head-fi re-cable them for you. It should be less than $120 and you can pick whatever color you'd like. Good Luck

Let me know if you need help, I've done my fair share of Grado recables here, do a search for some of my threads/posts. Pricing is definitely lower than $120, around 1/4 that amount.
