Gotta admit, just got two pens and a mechanical pencil. Didn't know where they were made, just liked the weighting and the way they wrote, called Lamy...........Found out they are German. Not too surprised.
I always liked german-made amps, they do most things "right" (i.e Symphonic Line, ASR Emitter).
About the opamps, the way they are used in the V100/V200 is not harmful for the sound at all (assuming opamps harm the sound vs a discrete design). They both have its place.
I surely prefer a discrete class A output stage, to an opamp or pair of opamps biased in classA, but with the right design they can sound both good (BCL no one? ;) )
Personal opinion, Burson products are overrated.
I'm having a hard time to choose between the V100 and the V200, the price difference is about 150€ in euroland. The V100 has plenty of power, a little less damping. The double output transistors reduces distortion and improves the already very oversized OPS. I think the difference is noticeable only with hard to drive headphones. I'd like some more opinion, since I wouldnt mind to save a few quids.
About the DAC, it seems good, probably better than the Benchmark, but nothing stellar is possible to be done under a 3-4k pricerange, just for components cost. DACs are the most complex and delicate equipment pieces and requires lots of RD, RFI-type PCB design, lots of parts and several separate power lines, etc etc.
The German pricing may include VAT? I'm looking forward to Project86's Violectric reviews. From what I have read to date I like their look, features (balanced hp out) and performance. Interesting comment about opamp aging. I wouldn't think silicon ages to any significant degree but what do I know.

Europeans are charged Value Added Taxes, that's why the same thing (such stuff you buy online from Europe) may cost more inside EU than outside it.
German COFFEE??? OMGWTF... Maybe you meant German Beer... Or Brazilian coffee, or Indian silk, or French fries... Real coffee hasn't crossed German borders yet :D That's why I have to drink beer for breakfast when I'm there :D German engineering rocks by the way!!!
.
Seconded. He´s awesome... And won´t feed you any "audiophile talk". Glad to see more scientific-minded companies have success in this field. I hope the new discrete volume control option becomes available for the V100/V200 as well. That RK27 pot is my only complaint regarding their amps.
