Fraud and rip-off caution - Page 2

My rule of thumb is not to buy from someone unless they have 98% positive feedback or better. That tends to be a pretty good rule, it hasn't failed me yet.

I have found many ebay sellers do not post feedback at all until you do it first, that way, they can retaliate against you if you post negative feedback.

Yes I'm always skeptical of the accuracy or usefulness of the feedback system. Many sellers wait until the buyer leaves a feedback before responding in kind. Well... since buyers often pay upfront, this gives the seller a chance to retaliate against a negative feedback by the buyer.

I sometimes wonder if, in the event I got ripped off for something under $20, I would leave a negative feedback on the seller because the dishonorable prick would probably leave a negative feedback and libel me in return.

Good idea. I really hate how sellers wait until you leave feedback. They are obviously waiting to leave a retaliatory negative feedback despite the fact that you fullfilled your end of the transaction perfectly.

I think eBay should automatically register positive feedback for buyers when payment goes through a verified PayPal transaction. It is, after all, an eBay company.

That's actually not a bad idea edwood. A seperate ranking on the side to indicate if and when full payment was made, if made through PayPal...

I personally wait to leave feedback not specifically because I want to get back at someone who posts a negative. The guy who gave me a neutral I simply didn't leave feedback for.

The reason I wait is because the transaction isn't actually complete until the person has the item and has verified that it is to their liking. If something happens to the item through shipment, or if the item isn't what the other person thought it was, etc. the transaction isn't over. So I consider the transaction still active until the person verifies the package has gotten there and has left me feedback or e-mailed me saying so.

http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/557904/fs-audio-technica-ath-ck10-sold

Got ripped off by user "High_Q" and by by user "toby5678910" recently.

Traded my Audio Technica ATH-CK10 with High_Q for his Sony NWZ-X1051 + Sony LOD.

I sent the CK10 and then he started giving excuses like he had trouble finding the Sony LOD.

He got banned and never sent the Sony NWZ-X1051 + Sony LOD.

He posted about his new CK10 under a different username "user02" in the ljokerl thread, confirming that he received it, he also sent PM's to me from "user02" saying "Hi it's High_Q here, I was banned, need your address again" etc, I gave my address to him 3 times I think.

It's been almost 2 months since the transaction started when I sent the CK10 now.

Since it was an equal trade, after a lot of PM's back and forth about Paypal he wrote as follows:

High_Q

ok, we'll just have mutual trust for each other and keep each other updated on sending goods that was agreed upon here. It's all documented here, so we should be good to go.

You'll notice in his trader feedback he has +12

Not only posting this as a warning about head-fi trading in general, but also want to ask how do you think I should proceed?
