That should be the power supply.

I just exchanged emails with Craig.  He plans to replace this model, EC 2A3, with an upgraded Moth.  The Moths are all DC amps, so my fear was that they would be noisy, but Craig says he will use the 40kHz AC heater amp that is in the BA, as he has already tried this recently in a modified Moth and it is quiet enough to use balanced headphones.  Other than that, I have no real information.  But he sounded definite - no time frame given.

Great News if you ask me.  I have some AVVT 2A3M waiting!

Well, that was a very short product life time.  One amp built?

Ordered the EC 2A3 with partial silver output transformers and P&G RF15 volume control upgrades week or so ago, hopefully see it in a month or two time. Will post initial impression & review on the main amp forum when it appears.

Congrats. Craig's moth 2a3/45 version remains one of my most favorite amps. I am sure his EC version is superior, especially with that fancy pot.
