Best USB dac under1000usd

Thread Starter
I am looking to set up my pc hifi system, so the first stage is to get a decent dac, however I almost know nothing about this and my budget is about 1000 usd, second hand will also do.
My headphones are cd3000 and rs1, I may get a hd800 or t1 later on. Also I think I will get an amp to use with the dac, so any suggestion for the amp too? Also with budget of 1000 usd. I mainly listen to pop music And somtimes classics too. Hope you guys could help me out.

One more question, with my C4, it has the spdif input and output jacks, is it good for connecting to a dac? Anyone has experience with that?

If you're a fan of tube sound, the MHDT Havana is an awesome DAC.  I believe the non-balanced version runs about $900.  Otherwise, Audio-gd has a wide selection of products that are very reasonably-priced.

As far as amps go, the Schiit Lyr is good for driving orthos and hard-to-drive headphones.  However, if you're looking to get the T1, it may be prudent to look into the Woo Audio WA2.
