Rock boxed clip + or Samsung galaxy S captivate

I'm not sure if i should shell out the extra money for a clip+ and card (considering how the clip + at a local store is $70 at my local store for a 4gb>.> and that i hate buying online)

I know i could probably root my galaxy to get more power but i'm not sure and i'm scared that i might brick my phone while rooting.

Is the rockboxed clip+ really that much better than the Galaxy S or should i go with the rooting method.

a clip+ for $70 is not worth it. One of the main appeal of the clip is it's low price.

I just looked into rooting my phone... and well i don't want to risk bricking my phone and end up having to buy a new one =/  any suggestions on players for ~100 or less?

I also have a Captivate and have rooted and flashed roms many time (like 20+) and hav yet to brick it. Here are some links if you become interested again. Voodoo sound mod really lets loose the Wolfson dac in this thing. It sounded pretty lackluster with the factory parameters. Rooting and flashing are actually really easy. If it does end up bricking, most of the time you can restore it back to factory with a program called Odin

One-click root

Then download ROM manager and install Clockwork mod

Then flash a ROM with Voodoo sound on it
